- 2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 stick margarine
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 c. butter Crisco
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. milk
- 8 apples
Directions

1Boil first 4 ingredients for 5 minutes; set aside.

2Combine Crisco, baking powder, salt and flour.

3Add milk.

4Roll out dough. Cut into 8 squares.

5Place cored apple in center of each pastry. Seal pastry.

6Place in 9 x 13-inch pan.

7Pour syrup over top of dumplings.

8Bake at 375° for 35 minutes, basting frequently.
