Apple Dumplings

Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 2/3 c. milk
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 6 apples, peeled, cored and cut into quarters
- cinnamon-sugar to taste
- 1/2 c. (1 stick) plus 6 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- vanilla to taste
Directions

1In mixing bowl, whisk together egg and milk.

2Sift in flour, baking powder and salt.

3Stir to make a soft dough.

4Turn out on floured board and knead lightly.

5Roll and cut in 6 equal squares. Place 4 apple quarters in center of each square, bringing up corners of dough to enclose apple.

6Pinch and seal.

7Place dumplings in a large pan, not touching.

8Bake in preheated oven at 425° for 10 minutes.

9Reduce oven temperature to 350° and bake 45 minutes longer.

10Test by pricking with toothpick.

11If apples are tender, they are done.

12Sprinkle with a little cinnamon-sugar.
