  • 5 to 7 tart apples
  • 3/4 to 1 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • dash of salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice (if apples are not tart)
  • pie crust, top and bottom unbaked (or top with streusel)

Directions

    Pare apples and slice thin.

    Mix sugar, flour, salt and spices; add to apples and mix.

    Put in pie shell and dot with butter.

    Adjust top crust; perforate with a knife and dot with butter.

    Bake for 50 minutes in a preheated 400° oven.
