- 2 (9-inch) pie crusts
- 5 to 6 c. peeled, cored and sliced apples
- 1/2 to 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 to 1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. lemon zest
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450°.

2Line a 9-inch pan with one crust.

3In mixing bowl, mix well the apples, sugar, salt, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg.

4Place apples in pan.

5Dot with butter; sprinkle with lemon.

6Top with remaining crust which has been pricked.

7Bake at 450° for 10 minutes.

8Reduce heat to 350°.

9Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until done.

10May lightly sprinkle top with sugar and cinnamon before putting in oven.
