- 1/4 c. butter
- 2 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 3/4 c. hot water
- 8 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 egg
- 1 c. whole wheat flour
- 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 4 to 6 apples, peeled and cut in wedges
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 Tbsp. sesame seed
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Add buttermilk, melted butter, 6 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, egg and whole wheat flour.

3Stir to blend.

4All all-purpose flour.

5Knead dough until smooth and elastic.

6Let rise in a warm place for about 40 minutes.

7Punch down.

8On floured board, knead dough until satiny. Divide into 3 parts.

9Roll each into a rectangle.

10Cut rectangle into 10 squares.

11Place an apple wedge in the middle of each square.

12Combine remaining sugar and cinnamon.

13Sprinkle over apple wedge.

14Fold dough over apples to cover completely.

15Brush with beaten egg.

16Sprinkle with sesame seed.

17Bake at 400° for 8 minutes, then increase oven to 425° and bake 4 more minutes.
