3 steps

Ingredients

  • 6 None Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and halved
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 9 tbsp butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 None eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tbsp sliced almonds
  • 1 tbsp apricot jam
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar

Directions

  1. 1
Sprinkle the apple pieces with lemon juice. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
  2. 2
Mix the butter, sugar, vanilla extract and salt. Stir in eggs one by one. Mix together the flour and baking powder; fold into the wet mixture. Pour the batter into a greased 10 inch springform pan and level with an offset spatula. Distribute the apple halves, cut side down, in the mixture. Sprinkle the top with almonds and bake for 40-45 mins.
  3. 3
Take the torte out of the oven and leave it in the pan to cool on a wire rack. Heat the jam, with a little water if necessary and stir it until it reaches a smooth, glaze-like consistency. Remove torte from pan and brush apples with the glaze. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
