Apple Upside-Down Cake

  • 2 medium-large apples, peeled and cored
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/3 c. light or dark corn syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
  • 2 1/4 c. buttermilk baking mix
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 c. milk

Directions

    Cut apples crosswise into 9 slices.

    In a saucepan, melt margarine over medium heat.

    in an 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish, combine melted margarine, corn syrup, brown sugar and cinnamon. Arrange apple slices in bottom of dish.

    Sprinkle with nuts.

    Bake in 350° oven for 15 minutes.
