- 4 c. cooking apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
- 1 c. sifted wheat flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/3 c. butter, melted
Directions

1Place apples in lightly greased 9-inch round cake pan. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and 1/4 cup walnuts; sprinkle over apples.

2Sift together the flour, remaining sugar, baking powder and salt.

3Combine egg, milk and butter.

4Add to dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.

5Pour over apple mixture.

6Top with nuts. Bake at 325° for 40 to 50 minutes.
