  • 1 cup regular rolled oats (not quick cooking), ground to a coarse meal in a food processor
  • 1/2 cup barley flour

    Preheat the oven to 325F.

    To make the filling, mix together the apples, lemon juice, agave nectar, arrowroot powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl.

    Spoon the filling into a 9- by 13-inch glass baking pan.

    Pour the water over the filling to provide extra moisture.

    To make the topping, in a bowl whisk together the agave nectar, cinnamon, and canola oil.

    Mix the ground walnuts, chopped walnuts, rolled oats, and barley flour in a separate bowl.

    Combine the flour mixture and the oil mixture together and mix with your fingers until blended and crumbly.

    Crumble the topping evenly over the apple mixture.
