  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c. canned applesauce
  • 2 c. flour, sifted
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 pkg. chocolate chips

Directions

    Cream the shortening and sugar well.

    Add egg, then applesauce.
  3. 3
    Combine the dry ingredients; add to the egg mixture. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon mixture on top before baking.

    Bake in a 13 x 9-inch pan at 350° for 35 minutes.
