  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. applesauce
  • 1 Tbsp. soda, stirred in applesauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. walnuts

    Sift spices with flour.

    Cream the sugar with butter.

    Add eggs and beat well.

    Add sifted ingredients alternately with applesauce and soda mixture.

    Stir in walnuts and raisins.

    Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until cake springs back when touched.
