  • 1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. applesauce
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1 c. nuts

Directions

    Cream shortening, sugar and eggs together.

    Put applesauce in large bowl and add soda, mixing well.

    Sift flour and add cinnamon, allspice and salt; mix together.

    Add sugar mixture to applesauce.

    Add flour in last and mix well.

    Pour in cake pans that have been greased well.

    Bake at 350° for 1 hour in a tube pan or 35 minutes in cake pans.

    Remove to racks to cool.
