- 1 cup applesauce
- 34 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- vegetable oil (for frying)
- cinnamon-sugar mixture, for coating doughnuts after frying
Directions

1Mix all ingredients except oil and cinnamon sugar mixture in large bowl with electric mixer.

2Cover and refrigerate about 1 hour.

3Heat oil in fryer to 375

4Roll out dough and cut doughnuts.

5Fry doughnuts 1-2 minutes per side till golden brown.

6Optional Sprinkle doughnuts with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
