  • 4 pkg. Knox gelatine
  • 2 1/2 c. cold applesauce
  • 4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 c. chopped walnuts
  • 2 Tbsp. orange extract
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla extract

Directions

    Soak Knox gelatine with 1 cup applesauce.

    In a large kettle combine 1 1/2 cups applesauce, sugar, salt and lemon juice; bring to a boil.

    Add gelatine mixture and boil for 20 minutes, stirring frequently.

    Cool.

    Add walnuts, orange extract and vanilla extract. Mix well and pour into well-greased 8 x 13-inch pan.

    Set in refrigerator overnight.

    Cut into squares and roll in powdered sugar.

    Let stand in open awhile to let edges dry.

    Can also use pureed strawberries, pears or apricots.
