- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. dried apricots
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/4 c. water
- 3/4 c. butter
- 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- almonds (blanched) or coconut (optional)
Directions

1Cook over low heat the apricots, sugar and water until apricots are tender and most of the water is absorbed, approximately 20 minutes.

2Sieve fruit; set aside.

3Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy.

4Add vanilla.

5Add flour and salt slowly.

6Spread evenly on bottom of 9 x 9-inch greased pan. Spread apricot mixture over.

7Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool; cut into 1 x 2-inch squares.

8Decorate with almonds or coconut.
