Ingredients
- 1 c. long grain rice
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, peeled and chopped
- 2 c. water
- 1 can tomato sauce
Directions

1Rinse rice according to directions; mash garlic with 1/2 teaspoon salt to make paste.

2Set aside.

3Heat oil in a large pot; add rice.

4Cook and stir over medium heat until lightly browned. Add onion and garlic paste.

5Cook and stir until onion is tender. Add tomatoes; cook and stir until tomatoes are softened and blended into rice mixture.

6Add water and 1 can tomato sauce. Cover and simmer until water is absorbed, 3 to 5 minutes.

7Reduce heat to very low and steam 30 to 40 minutes until rice is tender. Makes 4 servings.
