- 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 4 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk, well shaken
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Directions

1Preheat the oven to 350F.

2Grease 2 9 x 5-inch loaf pans.

3With an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

4Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

5Beat in the bananas and vanilla.

6Sift the flour together with the baking soda and salt and add to the banana mixture alternately with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour.

7Fold in the nuts.

8Pour the batter into the loaf pans and bake for 55 minutes.

9Cool slightly in the pan before turning the loaves out onto wire racks to cool completely.
