- 2 c. milk, scalded
- 1/2 c. solid vegetable shortening
- 2 cakes yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- melted butter
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 5 c. flour
Directions

1Add shortening to scalded milk.

2Dissolve yeast in warm water; add to milk mixture.

3Add eggs, salt, flour and 1/2 cup sugar to yeast mixture.

4Mix well.

5Allow to rise until double in bulk, about 2 hours.

6Shape into cloverleaf or desired shape, using melted butter in forming rolls.

7Let rise until double in bulk about 45 minutes to an hour.

8Bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 400°.
