Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 c. chopped onions
  • 4 c. hot water
  • 1 tsp. Kitchen Bouquet (or 2 bouillon cubes)
  • 1 c. diced potatoes
  • 1 c. diced celery
  • 1 c. diced carrots
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 6 fresh tomatoes, cut up (or 3 c. juice)

Directions

    Brown beef slowly in skillet.

    Add onions, cook 5 minutes. Put beef and onions in 8 quart kettle.

    Add remaining ingredients, except tomatoes.

    Bring to boil; cover, and simmer 20 to 30 minutes.

    Add tomatoes, and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes longer. Cooks note:
