Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 3 to 4 c. water
  • 1 c. cut-up carrots (or more)
  • 1 c. diced celery
  • 1 c. cubed potatoes (or more)
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. bottled brown bouquet sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/8 tsp. basil
  • 6 tomatoes, peeled and chopped or 28 oz. canned tomatoes with juice

Directions

    In a large pot, cook ground beef; drain fat.

    Cook onions with meat until tender.

    Stir in remaining ingredients; heat to boiling.

    Cover, reduce heat and simmer until tender.
