  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1 (1 3/4 oz.) envelope chili seasoning mix
  • 1 (16 oz.) can peeled tomatoes
  • 1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans
  • 1/2 c. tomato juice or water
  • dash of salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cumin (comino) powder (optional)

Directions

    In skillet, brown beef in hot oil, chopping it into small granules as it cooks.

    Drain off excess fat.

    Sprinkle mix over meat; stir well.

    Add remaining ingredients; bring to a boil, stirring to blend flavors.

    Reduce heat; cover and simmer at least 15 minutes.
