- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 3/4 c. flour
- 1 c. warm water (105~ to 115~)
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 qt. water
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in 1 cup warm water in large bowl.

2Stir in sugar, salt and 1 1/4 cups flour.

3Beat until smooth.

4Stir in remaining flour.

5Turn dough onto lightly floured surface and knead.

6Place in greased bowl; turn greased side up.

7Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled, about 15 minutes.

8Punch dough down; divide into 8 equal parts.

9Roll each into a 6-inch rope. Moisten ends with water and pinch to form bagel or shape into a ball and punch a hole in center.

10Let rest 20 minutes.

11Heat oven to 375°.

12Heat 2 quarts of water to boiling.

13Reduce heat and boil 4 bagels at a time.

14Simmer 7 minutes, turning once.

15Drain on towel.

16Bake on greased baking sheet until brown, 30 to 35 minutes.
