- 4 Tbsp. oil
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 oz. dry yeast (2 pkg.)
- 3 3/4 c. flour, sifted
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. hot water
- 1 egg
Directions

1Mix the oil, sugar and salt with the hot water. When it cools to lukewarm, add the yeast to dissolve.

2Beat the egg until frothy. Add it to the liquid and then mix in the flour.

3Knead the dough and shape into doughnuts.

4Cover and set to rise on a floured board. When the bagels begin to swell, drop them, one at a time, into briskly boiling water and cook until they rise to the top and are light.

5Place on baking sheets and bake in

6a 400° oven until crisp and golden, about 15 minutes.

7Makes about 30 bagels.
