- 2 lb. kidney or pea beans
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. bacon fat
- scant 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- pinch of ginger
- heaping tsp. dry mustard
- 2 Tbsp. molasses
- 1/2 lb. salt pork
- onion
Directions

1Soak beans overnight.

2Parboil about 1 hour.

3Drain off liquid and pour boiling water over beans.

4Put in bean pot.

5Add all ingredients and cover with hot water.

6Bake in slow oven (250° to 275°) all day.
