- 2 lb. Northern beans
- 1/4 to 1/2 lb. bacon
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 c. brown sugar (scant)
- 1/2 c. catsup
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
- dash of ginger
Directions

1Soak beans overnight in enough water to allow the beans to swell.

2When ready to cook, add 1/2 teaspoon of soda to same water and allow to come to boil.

3Drain this water off and cover with fresh water.

4Add bacon; cook until beans mash easily against side of dish.

5Keeping covered with water, add remaining ingredients.

6Bake at 350° for 1 1/2 hours or 325° for a longer time.
