Ingredients
- 1 pound Ground Beef
- 1 whole Onion
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 teaspoon Basil
- 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
- 1 jar (26 Oz. Jar) Spaghetti Sauce
- 1 pound Penne Or Ziti Pasta
- 1/2 pounds Grated Or Sliced Mozzarella Cheese
- 1/2 pounds Grated Or Sliced Provolone Cheese
- 1/2 pounds Grated Or Sliced Monterey Jack Cheese
- 1/4 cups Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1- 1/2 cup Sour Cream
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Pepper
Directions

1To begin, cook the pasta according to package directions.

2I like to slightly undercook it by a minute since its going in a casserole.

3While the pasta is cooking, chop up the onion and garlic.

4Heat up one tablespoon of butter and one tablespoon of olive oil in a pan.

5Saute the onion and garlic until the onions become translucent and slightly browned.

6Add in the ground beef and the basil, Italian seasonings, and salt and pepper to taste.

7Stir frequently to break up the beef and keep the garlic from burning.

8If youre trying to make this not-exactly-healthy dish a little healthier, you can drain the fat before adding the seasonings.

9But Im usually not that healthy.

10I just keep it all in there, and cook the beef until the pink is gone.

11When the pasta is finished, drain it and place it in a large casserole.

12Add a tablespoon of butter to coat and a healthy dose of salt.

13Buttering the penne in the casserole greases the edges and keeps it from sticking later on.

14As if we need anymore fat/butter/oil.

16Remove the noodles from the casserole dish and set them aside till later.

17I only use about 2/3rds of the noodles and save the rest for my picky daughter who wont eat anything that touches a tomato.

18About the cheese.

19Some people wont be able to bring themselves to attempt sour cream in a pasta dish.

20If you are one of those, try ricotta instead.

21But if youre willing, I highly recommend the sour cream.

22It is less heavy than ricotta, and has a milder tastebut similar texturewhen cooked.

23Its one of my favorite elements of this dish.

24Now for the assembly.

25Begin by placing a layer of noodles in the bottom of the casserole.

26Then layer on half of the ground beef mixture.

27After the ground beef, spoon on all of the sour cream and spread it around.

28Top it with half of your jar of pasta sauce.
-
29Next, layer on half of each of the cheeses.
-
30Create a second layer like the first, minus the sour cream.
-
31Bake in a preheated 350 degrees oven for 45 minutes.

32Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
