- 6 large baking apples
- 1/2 c. raisins or chopped dates
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/3 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Directions

1Core apples, then peel 1/2 way down from the top.

2Place in a baking dish and fill centers with mixture of nuts, raisins or dates.

3In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar and spices. Bring to a boil while stirring, then simmer 8 to 10 minutes.

4Pour over apples, then bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes.

5Baste apples with the syrup 3 or 4 times during baking.

6Makes six servings.
