- 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 c. softened butter
- 3/4 c. milk
Directions

1Measure flour and sift all the dry ingredients together.

2Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

3Form a wet dough with the milk.

4Knead 8 or 10 times.

5With a floured hand, pat dough out to a 1/2-inch thickness.

6Cut out biscuits with a floured biscuit cutter.

7Pat out scraps and cut again until all dough is used and refrigerate biscuits for 1 hour.

8Preheat oven to 450°.

9Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden.
