- 2 lb. walnut meats or almonds, ground
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 lb. melted butter
- 2 lb. phyllo dough leaves (2 pkg. frozen phyllo)
Directions

1Grind walnuts and mix with sugar and spice.

2Grease an 11 x 16-inch pan with melted butter.

3Place 12 phyllo sheets in the large pan, brushing each with melted butter.

4Sprinkle with 2 cups of nut mixture.

5Cover with 5 phyllo sheets, brushing each generously with melted butter.

6Continue this procedure until all nut mixture is used.

7Finish with 12 phyllo sheets on top, brushing each with melted butter.

8Chill before cutting.

9Cut pastry into small diamond shapes.

10Bake in a slow oven (300°) for about 1 1/2 hours until lightly browned.

11Remove from oven and pour cool syrup over hot pastry.

12Makes 75 pieces.
