- 1 lb. filo dough
- 1 lb. chopped walnuts
- 1/2 c. crushed zwieback crackers
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 lb. unsalted butter, melted
- Syrup
Directions

1Mix nuts, zwieback, cinnamon, cloves and sugar.

2Butter 13 x 10-inch pan.

3Place 1 sheet of filo dough in pan and then butter sheet with pastry brush.

4Continue until you have 7 to 8 sheets layered.

5Spread nut mixture evenly over layered dough, then continue to cover mixture with 1 sheet of filo dough at a time, buttering each sheet as it is placed on top.

6Continue until all pastry sheets are used.

7Cut into serving pieces.

8Pour remaining melted butter over pastry.

9Bake at 350° for 40 minutes or until golden brown.

10Pour syrup over baklava while hot.

11Let cool before serving.
