- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. mashed ripe bananas
- 1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1In a bowl, combine first four ingredients.

2Add 1/2 teaspoon salt.

3Add bananas, buttermilk, shortening, eggs and vanilla.

4Beat with electric mixer on low speed, until mixed well, then go to medium speed for 3 minutes.

5Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 8 x 1 1/2-inch or 9 x 1 1/2-inch round pans.

6Bake in oven at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
