  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. (2 to 3) mashed ripe bananas
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

    Sift flour, salt and soda together.

    Cream shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs and bananas, beating until light.

    Alternately add flour and milk.

    Beat after each addition until smooth.

    Add nuts.

    Pour batter into greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.

    Bake at 350° for 1 hour, or until done.
