  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 c. oleo
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp. buttermilk or milk and 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 c. mashed bananas
  • 1 c. chopped nuts, pecans or walnuts

    Cream sugar and oleo; add eggs.

    Mix well.

    Add rest of ingredients.

    Mix well and beat.

    Heat oven to 350°.

    Grease and flour 4 No. 2 cans or 1 loaf pan.

    Fill cans half full.

    Bake for 1 hour.

    Let stand in cans 5 minutes, then remove so that breads won't get soggy.
