- 1/3 c. cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3 egg yolks, well beaten
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 large ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 c. sugar
- 3 c. scalded milk
- 20 vanilla wafers
Directions

1Mix cornstarch with sugar and salt in double boiler.

2Pour scalded milk over this mixture.

3Cook over boiling water until mixture thickens, stirring almost constantly.

4Cover and cook 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5Add hot mixture very slowly to beaten egg yolks, stirring constantly.

6Return to double boiler and cook 2 minutes.

7Let cool and add vanilla.

8Put alternate layers of vanilla wafers, banana slices and pudding mixture in 1 1/2-quart casserole, having top layer pudding.

9Garnish with banana slices and whole vanilla wafers.

10Let cool, then chill in refrigerator before serving.
