Barbecued Beef Strips

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. round steak
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • vinegar to taste

    Slice steak 1/8-inch thick while partially frozen.

    Brown in hot oil; stir frequently.

    Add tomato sauce, mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, water and sliced onion.

    Cover and simmer for up to an hour, at least 30 minutes.

    For a tangier barbecue sauce, stir in a little red wine vinegar or cider vinegar to taste before pouring over rice or noodles.
