  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 3/4 c. uncooked barley
  • 3/4 c. slivered almonds
  • 8 oz. can mushrooms
  • 1 1/2 c. grated Colby cheese
  • 1 soup spoon Vegex
  • 4 Tbsp. McKay's chicken seasoning

Directions

    Saute onions and other ingredients, adding them in order. Transfer them into a deep, at least 3-quart, greased casserole dish.

    Add 4 cups of water, including mushroom juice.

    Bake for 2 hours at 350° or 3 1/2 hours at 225°.
