  • 1 cup butter or margarine, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup milk or heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • flavoring or other desired
  • 2 pounds confectioners' sugar

Directions

    Beat butter for a few seconds on medium speed, just to make it creamy.

    Add the confectioner's sugar, one cup at a time, and beat on medium-high speed until all sugar is added.

    Add the milk and vanilla and beat on high speed until the texture is light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
