- 1 egg
- 1 1/3 c. milk or 1 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1/4 c. vegetable oil or melted shortening
- 2 c. Martha White plain cornmeal
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450°.

2Grease skillet or pan.

3Place in oven to heat.

4Beat egg in mixing bowl.

5Add remaining ingredients. Blend well.

6Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 20 to 25 minutes.

7Makes 1 (9-inch) skillet or 9-inch square pan.

8Batter should be creamy and pourable.
