- 2/3 c. sugar
- 3 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 c. milk
- 3 egg yolks, slightly beaten (reserve whites)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 9-inch pie shell
Directions

1Combine first 3 ingredients in top of double boiler.

2Stir in cold milk.

3Cook until thick, stirring constantly.

4Stir a little of the mixture into the egg yolks.

5Add to remaining mixture. Cook 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly.

6Cool and stir in vanilla.

7Pour into pie shell and cover with meringue.
