Ingredients
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp. salt
- 4 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
- 3/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 pkg. or cake yeast
- 4 1/2 c. flour (about)
Directions

1Scald milk.

2Stir in sugar, salt and shortening.

3Cool to lukewarm.

4Sprinkle or crumble yeast into water.

5Let stand until dissolved.

6Stir.

7Add lukewarm milk mixture.

8Add about half the flour.

9Beat until smooth.

10Stir in additional flour.

11Turn out onto lightly floured board or pastry cloth and knead.

12Place in a greased bowl and brush top lightly with shortening.

13Cover and let rise in a warm place free from draft until doubled in bulk.

14Punch down and shape into rolls.

15Let rise until doubled in size.

16Bake at 425° for 15 to 20 minutes depending on shape of roll.
