- 1 cake yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 c. milk, scalded
- 6 c. sifted flour (about)
Directions

1Mix yeast, warm water and 1 teaspoon sugar and let cool.

2Add shortening, salt and sugar to milk and let cool.

3Add yeast and 3 cups of flour; beat well.

4Turn out and work in as much flour as needed.

5Knead until elastic.

6Put in a greased bowl, turn to grease top.

7Let rise until double.

8Punch down; shape into loaves or rolls.

9Let rise until almost double.
