- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 c. milk, scalded
- 1 small mashed potato
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 3 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Directions

1Soften yeast in warm water.

2Combine milk, sugar, shortening, potato and salt.

3Cool to lukewarm.

4Add 1 1/2 cups flour; beat well.

5Beat in yeast and egg.

6Gradually add remaining flour to form a soft dough.

7Beat well.

8Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease surface.

9Cover.

10Chill at least 2 hours, or can be kept up to 4 or 5 days in refrigerator.

11About 2 hours before serving, punch down dough; roll out on floured surface.

12Cut out with cookie cutter, about 2 inches in diameter, brush with melted butter and fold over.
