Basil Lemonade

  • 4 to 5 Lemons
  • 500 ml Carbonated water
  • 1 good amount Ice cubes
  • 4 to 5 stalks Basil (with stems)
  • 100 ml White sugar
  • 100 ml Water

Directions

    Thoroughly rinse the basil, then cut the stalk in half lengthways.

    Combine the sugar, water, and basil in a small saucepan and heat on medium.
  3. 3
    When the sugar dissolves and the water starts to boil, remove from the heat, and let sit for about 3 minutes.

    Strain in a colander, then chill in the refrigerator.

    (You should have 150 ml of syrup.)

    Squeeze the lemons, and remove the seeds.

    It's actually quite tasty if a little of the pulp gets into the juice.

    Put the ice in a pitcher, slowly pour in the lemon juice, basil syrup, and carbonated water and stir.

    Pour into individual cups.
