  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening, melted
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 egg, separated
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • fish
  • oil (for frying)

    Sift flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.

    Drop in the egg yolk.

    Add water and shortening.

    Mix.

    Fold in beaten egg white. Drop fish in the batter and fry in oil 4 to 6 minutes at 375°.
