  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup half-and-half cream, NO SUBSTITUTES
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs, whipped
  • 1/4 cup mascarpone (Italian cream cheese)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 4 inches vanilla beans, weeds discarded or 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped
