  • 2 lb. Great Northern beans
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves chopped garlic
  • 2 qt. water (more if needed)
  • 1 lb. diced smoked sausage (links)
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    Presoak beans for faster cooking.

    Combine ingredients; cook in heavy pot over low heat until tender, at least 2 hours.

    Mash with potato masher until beans blend into soup.

    Best served with warm corn bread.
