- 1 to 1 1/2 lb. ham hocks
- 1 pkg. Portuguese sausage
- 3 potatoes, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 pkg. fresh string beans, cut into 1-inch sections
- 1 pkg. frozen lima beans
- 1 can kidney beans
- 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1 bunch watercress, cut into 3-inch sections (optional)
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1Boil ham hocks in water in a large (10-quart or larger) pot until meat falls off the bone (about 3 to 4 hours).

2Add remaining ingredients except watercress and cook for an additional hour. Watercress and/or sliced cabbage can be added the last 15 to 20 minutes of cooking time.
