- 1 can whole tomatoes
- 1 can tomato sauce or paste
- 1 large onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- seasoning to taste
- 2 to 3 celery stalks, cut fine
- 2 or 3 ham bones or hocks
- 1 large pkg. Great Northern white beans
- sausage
Directions

1Put all ingredients, except sausage, in 8 to 10 quart pot and fill with water.

2Add a lot of black and red pepper, but no salt yet, as the ham may be salty enough.

3Add salt after it has cooked an hour or two if needed.

4Cook about 8 hours.

5Sometime during the day, slice a link of smoked sausage in rounds and fry to remove grease.

6Add to soup.

7This freezes well but will need more pepper after thawing.
