  • 2 c. dried beans (any choice)
  • 2 tsp. oil
  • 3 lb. chuck steak, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 tsp. honey
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp. prepared mustard

    Soak the beans in enough water to cover overnight.

    Simmer the beans in the water in which they soaked for about 20 minutes. Drain the beans, reserving the water.

    Heat the oil in a large saucepan and salt the onions.

    Add the meat and cook until the meat is browned.

    Mix the honey, salt, pepper and mustard with the reserved bean water.

    Add beans to meat.

    Cover and simmer until meat is tender.
