  • 3 lbs Lean Beef (Shin Meat)
  • 1 large Onion
  • 6 cloves Garlic
  • 3 Quarts Water
  • 2 19oz Cans of kidney beans
  • 1 28oz Can of Crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup Dry red wine
  • 2 Tablespoons Cumin
  • 2 small dried peppers
  • Bones for making Stock(Optional)

    {"0":"Bring the water to boil in a large pot.","2":"If you are making the homemade stock add the bones to the water and bring it to a boil for about an hour. When finished remove bones from the pot.","4":"Start by cutting the beef into roughly 1 inch cubes and then sauteing in a frying pan until browned all over. Then using a slotted spoon add beef to stock or add to the pot of boiling water.","6":"Next saute onions and garlic until just browned and then add to the pot.","8":"Deglaze frying pan with red wine and add to the pot.","10":"Add both Spices and the can of tomatoes. Bring pot to a boil, cover and cook for 4-5 hours or more. 30 minutes before serving uncover and add beans to the pot. When ready to serve, serve with a slice of crusty bread. Best enjoyed on a cold day."}
